Celtic Manor Resort completes hat-trick of Top UK Conference Hotel awards

The Celtic Manor Resort has been voted Top UK Conference Hotel for the third time in four years.

The reader poll in Conference & Incentive Travel magazine has now bestowed the prestigious award on Celtic Manor in 2005, 2007 and 2008, reaffirming the Resort’s reputation as the best venue for hosting corporate events in Great Britain.

The five-star Resort in South Wales, which will stage golf’s Ryder Cup in 2010, beat off some strong competition from top hotels in and around London to claim the award. The Hilton Metropole was second and The Grove, which topped the poll in 2006, was third. 

Its two hotels – offering both a four- and a five-star option – its championship golf courses and its flexible event space, capable of hosting two to 1,500 delegates, were identified as key factors in Celtic Manor’s latest success.

Celtic Manor Convention Centre Manager Nancy Mollett said: “We are delighted to have won this prestigious award for the third time in four years.

The Resort’s Convention Centre – one of the largest hotel facilities of its kind in Europe – houses the Caernarfon Suite which can seat 1,500 delegates for a keynote address or 800 dining guests for a gala dinner. An additional 16 meeting rooms with break-out areas can cater for every event from a small meeting around a table to large presentations for hundreds of people.

With 400 bedrooms in two hotels, three championship golf courses, five restaurants, two luxurious spas and health clubs as well as a host of other activities, The Celtic Manor Resort occupies a unique position in the marketplace.

The venue is also a finalist in the Best UK Hotel category at the Meetings & Incentive Travel Awards which will be announced on February 23. It was voted Wales’ Leading Golf Resort at the 2008 World Travel Awards and its Twenty Ten Clubhouse was named UK Clubhouse of the Year.

The Resort’s fine dining restaurant, The Crown at Celtic Manor, has just been awarded three AA rosettes, placing it among the top 200 restaurants in the United Kingdom, and is also listed in the Good Food Guide 2009.
